Distribution Function of Random Vortex Velocities in the Turbulent Ionospheric Current

A theoretical expression for the distribution function of random vortex velocities in the turbulent ionospheric current has been derived. The validity of the theory has been tested by: 1) a correlation between theoretical velocity variations and results of computer simulation of the GD instability; 2) a comparison between theoretical and experimental shapes of Doppler spectra.

Methodological aspects of Lorentz transformations choosing of length and time standards

In the work questions of choosing of length and time standards in inertial systems of counting and reality of Lorentz length reduction and moving clock slowing down are considered. As it is known Lorentz transformations are deduced on the basis of two postulates of special theory of relativity. Besides, the third postulate concerning characteristics of time and space is needed. Empty space is homogenic and isotropic, time is homogenic and one way directional. Such system of postulates is non-contradictory and enough to conclude Lorentz transformations. So, in this work the question of limitations which apply to choosing of length and time standards has been examined.

On the paradox of twins

The most famous paradox of the special theory of relativity - the paradox of twins is considered. Usually this paradox is researched with the help of the general theory of relativity. The authors offer another formulation of the initial task leading to a paradox by its qualitative consideration, but the strict solution of this task can be found only in the frameworks of the special theory of relativity. The obtained exact solutions are characterized by the absence of the paradox and they show the internal self-consistence of the postulates of the special theory of relativity.

Geophysical researches in the Arctic

This paper is an attempt to present a review of the investigations of geophysical processes in the Arctic having been conducted during last years in the MSTU. The basic object of the researches are the physical processes taking place in the near-Earth space above the Arctic, as well as on the global scale, influencing on operation of the space rockets and satellites, radiotechnical systems and long lines of energy transfer. A conclusion has been made that the researches of the geophysical processes in the Arctic conducted at the MSTU are complex, made at high scientific level using the modern computer methods, and very cooperative.

On the deduction of Lorentz transformation laws without the postulate on the constancy of light velocity

The new system of postulates, which makes it possible to derive the relativistic transformation of co-ordinates and time has been considered in the paper. The postulate on the group nature of the required conversion has been proposed instead of the light velocity constancy postulate. This is sufficient for obtaining the required conversion, which contains one free parameter. The values of the parameter can be found either from the additional experiments or from the additional physical assumptions.
